Preface

Windows shuts down disk self-check before booting up

Using Registry Editor

  • Open the Registry Editor and navigate to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager
  • Delete all the values in the BootExecute key

Using Command Prompt

  • Disable disk self-check for a specific disk, usually the system disk

<disk>: drive letter

chkntfs /c <disk>
